I’ve done a few Little Man/Mustache themed cakes, and they work well for both baby showers and birthdays, especially if you change up the colors.  He’s a set of cakes that were similar, but the difference is number of tiers, and the fact that one is covered in buttercream, and one is covered in fondant. The featured cake above was a three-tier, 4″, 6″ over 8″ covered entirely in fondant, with fondant suspenders.  My talented client, who’s enjoys paper crafting, created the bow tie with fabric, and the mustache topper with a glittery foam core board.  I thought it looked awesome!  I think it’s great when clients create their cake toppers, because they can keep them (instead of eat them), and they can get the design exactly how they want it. mmc bakes, little man cake, baby blue, mustache cake, baby shower cake, san diego, chula vista, custom cake, buttercream cake, chevron, bow tie, mustache, baby shower, two tier, mustache cake This was a two-tier, 6″ over 8″, both covered in buttercream with fondant suspenders, bow tie, and mustache topper.  Below is a repost from Instagram of the client’s awesome setup.  Love this chic blue & gray color palette!

Sarap Tikman – June 29, 2016

I had an awesome time participating in the “Sarap Tikman” FilAm food pop-up that took place on Wednesday evening, June 29, 2016.  PASACAT is San Diego’s very own Philippine dance company, which is also a non-profit organization. This event was held at the PASACAT Center located in National City, and had well over 250 attendees!  I brought ube cupcakes, choco-flans, leche flans, French macarons, and a couple of ube-flan cakes to raffle.  All of the proceeds from this event benefitted the PASACAT Center to help make some much-needed renovations to their “vintage” building.  I was happy to participate in this event because it put me in touch with the community in a helpful way by allowing me to share my desserts and promote my business, as well as support my Filipino culture and the arts. Thanks to everyone who attended the event, PASACAT for featuring me, my volunteer helps at the event, and my family for coming by and supporting me!  Until next year!

Ice Cream Decorated French Macarons

Had to share these photos I took when I delivered these custom decorated ice cream cone french macarons for Jenesis’ 1st birthday party!  What an adorable setup they had going on in there!  Unfortunately, I only took photos of the dessert table, but you can already tell that the rest of the venue was adorably decorated! The pink macarons were filled with fresh raspberry buttercream, the blue ones with salted caramel buttercream, and the purple non-decorated ones were my ever-popular ube (purple yam) french macarons!  I was asked by my client to decorated some of the macarons like ice cream cones to match their party theme.  The inspiration photo I had only used colored food markers to decorate, however, I wanted to make them look a little more realistic. The “cone” part of the macarons is made of chocolate-flavored fondant that I embossed the texture with a straight edge. The contrasting drizzle is royal icing topped with real sprinkles.  I don’t work with royal icing very often, so props out to all the sugar cookie decorators out there!  Royal icing is not very easy to work with and takes a lot of practice!  Until my next set of these cuties! Special thanks for Jerel & Jem for hiring me to create these adorable macarons for your daughter’s special day!  A very happy 1st birthday Jenesis! #jenniturns1 #jenesismalong
