I love this Tsum Tsum birthday cake I made for Selene Rae’s first birthday! This is a two-tier fondant covered cake with a 10″ chocolate and vanilla marble cake with Oreo buttercream filling. The top 6″ tier was chocolate with mocha buttercream & leche flan. I used Satin Ice fondant for the cake, and it gave the cake a simple, clean finish. The name banner is a custom edible image to match the Tsum Tsum logo font that was on her invitation.
Each of those figures on the cake are hand-sculpted fondant by me. The fondant figures are fun to make, but very time consuming. The fondant figures I made from top to bottom (left to right): Beast, Belle, Stitch, Minnie, Captain America, Piglet, Pooh, Mickey and Ironman. The fondant figures can be kept forever as keepsakes since they dry up firm. Here’s a gallery of photos of the figures in detail, the matching cupcakes, and the client’s gorgeous setup at a park.
Client review: “This was an incredible cake! Not only the way it looks, but the way it tasted. Guests at my daughter’s 1st birthday party were in love! I’m in love! Thank you so much MMC Bakes !” -Michelle
This is my second Tsum Tsum birthday cake I made. My first one was a buttercream covered cake with hand-sculpted fondant Tsum Tsum figures as well.
Here’s a little tutorial on Petal Buttercream texture in pink and white. I used a Wilton large circle tip for piping. It makes for a gorgeous effect, especially on this smash cake.
